As our new national committee chairman, Michael Steele has said, "It is time for something completely new. We need to bring the party to every boardroom, every neighborhood, every community, every church and synagogue."
But Michael Steele can't do this alone. We need your help. We need your talents, your unique skills, and your energies as we begin to build a broad based grassroots organization in West Los Angeles. We intend to be a broad based coalition, working with existing Republican clubs and organizations, reaching out into the community to build the Republican Party and to fight for the cause we believe in.
As Westside Republicans, we need to go to places that Republicans haven't been seen in a long time; and we need to talk to people Republicans haven't talked to in a long time.
We will take GOP table into malls, community events and fairs, and through our younger members reach into high schools and support the College Republicans on campuses.
We will seek to convert and to register new voters by having tables at their swearing-in events. We will reach out to the Jewish Community, the Latino/Hispanic and Catholic communities, Asian- American groups, as well as business groups. In short, we need BOOTS ON THE GROUND, and we will be in an on-going campaign mode.
We will also be sponsoring speakers, writing to newspapers, posting blogs and supporting petitions. And we need YOU to get involved. On our website is a copy of our volunteer questionnaire. Through our affiliation with the Southern California Republican Coalition (with associated groups currently in South Bay, Peninsula/Harbor & Long Beach), we will offer campaign training, candidate training, and educational materials targeted to various communities and age groups. We are fully accredited with RPLAC, the Republican Party of Los Angeles County.
This work will take time to develop. Our short-term goal is to be as fully operational as possible by the 2010 gubernatorial/senatorial election; and from there, build towards the 2012 presidential race.
Westside Republicans already involves Republicans of all political stripes. There are groups that are more ideologically centered. Our cause will be the rebuilding of the Republican Party, in support of its general causes. Whatever our differences, they pale in coomparison to the opposition, which has now offered us the most radical political program in American history. In the face of the "Cradle-to-grave" socialism they are offering, we must defend capitalism, insist on a strong military, and maintain our commitment to lower taxes and smaller government.
The Westside Republicans are underway! While we did not achieve our goals in the November, 2008 election, we began a grassroots effort. Now, we are moving forward with the formation of the Westside Republicans – and we need you to be a part of this new and vital effort to rebuild the Republican Party in Los Angeles, and beyond.
Please join us for our next meeting to be March 10, 2010,at Jerry’s Restaurant & Deli in Westwood Village, located at 10925 Weyburn Avenue. Our special guests will be Chrystopher Smith, candidate for Congress and Michael Fell, Westwood Tea-Party. You may begin ordering your dinner from the menu at 6:30 in the upstairs reception room. $3.00 parking is just around the corner in the Broxton Ave. Public Parking garage.
